A glimpse into my morning:
4:45am - Hit snooze button
4:52am - Turn off alarm and go downstairs
5:00am - Sit in my basement blankly staring at the TV with my iPod on and my shoes in front of me.
5:02am - Decide that it's too damn cold and too damn early to run on my rickety-ass treadmill.
5:03am - Tell myself that I'm going to run after school on a less rickety-ass treadmill.
5:05am - Crawl back into my bed.
5:30am - Restart my day
Oh yeah, pre-marathon training is going well.
Someone or something better kick me in the ass soon or this is going to get worse. Much worse. I know the pattern. I've lived the pattern. Up next: getting rid of those pesky Oreo truffles that are cluttering up my fridge. Mmmmmm......Oreo truffles.

At least I don't get up and out of bed before I quit like a weakling. I get lots more sleep that way.
Did you say Oreo truffles? I would drop off a baggie of those about 4 miles away from home...bam, instant incentive...not to mention mid-run refueling.
But I am glad to see that I'm not the only one struggling with motivation. Hurray for widespread slacking!
I think that the only solution is to sleep in your running shoes with your iPod on. That way, you will be so groggy that you won't even remember the first half of your run.
Nothing says "blissful marriage" like snuggling up to your wife wearing a pair of slushy shoes and sweat bands around their wrists. Look out RazZdoodle #3!
"That way, you will be so groggy that you won't even remember the first half of your run."
He's onto something there.
We call them "Oreo Truffles" now? How very upscale of you.
Motivation, or lack thereof, seems to be genetic. Sorry 'bout that.
So you go to the trouble of actually getting out of bed before you decide to go back? By that point you just have to DO IT!
Oreo truffles, you say?! One of my favorite holiday traditions. In fact, I'm making a whole bunch this weekend. Want some?
AM runners. There's something wrong with them. I always have good intentions at night when I set my running stuff out by the bed. I eventually get around to putting it on when I get home from work the next day.
wow, that is my life. I'll run tomorrow, and I'll be great always turns into "I'm not really feeling it today, I love my bed."
pre-marathon training fail.
